Beer cuts..

.. you and your heart.

I swear, it was coincidentally that finger. We might not be looking at the same stars. But point away.

This is Me and You

You are the hole puncher. I am both the paper that goes into it and the hand that applies pressure. You puncture my heart, and at my will I push and push till you break away. And we're broken.

Cupful

Nothing like chocolate after Hite beer to calm the soul.

I've Said this Before, and I'll Say It Again.

It still feels surreal, especially sitting here in Melbourne where the hype is non-existent. Are Malaysians here ready to move on or they just simply do not care?

After what happened yesterday in the 12th GE, I went back in search of the letter I wrote to Lim Kit Siang when Sarawak State Elections were held. To my disappointment, his shift in blogs saw to a lost in 2006 archives. I found it fortunately, in MoMU where August had urged me to send in my entry which he titled
"Sarawak Election Rant" .

I made my point then, I still stand by it.

City or Country?

At the risk of getting thrown into jail and for breaching confidentiality of
votes, I'll say this: my family has always been a split-vote. My dad votes for the country and my mom's vote is race-based.

There is still a split-vote mentality in Sarawak but it seems to be the flipside of the trend. A lot of Chinese families give one to the Opposition and the other to BN - usually Parliament to Opp. and State to BN. Why you might ask? So that Opp. can make noise in Putrajaya while the state still gets funds. However, as we see it, there are 6 Rockets and 1 Keadilan member in Sarawak DUN and 1 Rocket in Parliament. So what's up with that?

Congratulations Barisan Rakyat! Now can you help me and my fellow Sarawakkians in terms of viable candidates?

On another note, realize that not many people know the significance of a
2/3rds majority. Federal government forms with a simple majority of 51%. However, any amendmant to the constitution and policies require a 2/3rds majority. By denying BN that majority, it means that they wont be able to pass stupid things like the ISA to their own benefit and at the expense of the rakyat.
Thanks Alvin, for showing us how to put the Cross.

Another important tip: The opposition may very well have garnered more votes than BN, however, constituency lines have been drawn to benefit BN in a way that there will be more seats in BN stronghold areas. The final tally is not up yet, but do not be too surprised if you find that the percentage of votes for Opp. is parallel or maybe even more than those cast for BN. In some areas, there can be as little as 5,000 voters (usually a BN seat) whereas in other areas there could well be over 50,000 voters (an Opposition seat). In conclusion, in theory the majority of the voters (I refrain from using the word "population" as voter turnout is never 100%) have given their vote to the Opposition but are denied justice because Parliamentary majority is based on seats.

Think about it this way. The Opp. took 5 states, K.L. and almost took Terengganu as well. That's almost half of the country. That should give them a heads up in toppling the preceding government but then, they've only just scraped 82 seats out of the 219. Logically speaking, it should've been at least 100 or more but not if BN can help it.

The Election Commision (EC) was due to again re-draw constituent lines in the 13th GE and that was one of the biggest worries for the Opposition because then there would be further imbalance in seats. Luckily for them, people were pissed enough to vote otherwise and send Badawi into meltdown mode.

But geez, you gotta give that man some props for being extremely thick-skinned. When asked did he think that the election results showed a vote of no-confidence in his ruling, he replied, "Maybe. People vote for many different reasons."

Are you thinking what I'm thinking, and going "WTF?" as well?

Bless his sleepyhead. I hope he's woken up.

Those Sparkly Things

Highlight of the Day:
I met Jeremy AGAIN. This time on the tram as I was getting back from Baillieu Lib. I saw him yesterday at Borders. Too bad he's oh-so-gay!! And oh-so-cute! :( This is a significant theory boys and gals. Good guys are taken or gay. Damn it.

For some reason I always feel a little lonely when I see fireworks. Maybe it's because I've been sharing fireworks experiences with people since young, and watching them alone reminds me of those times.

I've missed Moomba for two years now. I see them now from a distance. I might just go check it out tomorrow - alone, or with someone else.

I need to work tonight, or so I tell myself. Only because there isn't anyone special.

Big girls dont cry and fat girls dont lie.

Unless they want another reason to be bad that is. Who am I kidding? I suck at lying. That's why I cant ever work in sales or be a lawyer to a guilty party. Oh, and I've decided that the new love of my life is Jeffrey Archer coz 'A Prisoner of Birth' is out and he's handsome despite being old and saggy - ok, it's not that bad but he's getting on in years that's for sure. So Dear Jeffrey, please write more before you leave us. I just thank god everyday he's not in Malaysian Parliament otherwise he'd probably explode an artery listening to those dumbtwits feeding idiotic statements on Al Jazeera.

No I'm not

I'm not a good sister anymore. And less of a good friend. It's so much easier like this. I don't have to give a damn you know? It's hard to be like this in a world where NO ONE ELSE is interested in caring. So fuck yeah. Just sod off and leave me alone. I don't need to do this anymore.
