Newsflash : "Crocodile Hunter" has passed on

:O

This is shocking. After the previous post I navigated to my yahoo page and saw the news.

"Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin is dead!!
How? He was stung by a stingray. Rare case of death after attack by stingray. :/ That must've been some huge-ass fish.

As he would probably respond : "Crikey!"
It's like watching Spiderman get eaten by a spider or something like that.

For more info. as to what happened, please refer to the article in Sydney Morning Herald :
http://www.smh.com.au/news/national/steve-irwin-killed-by-stingray/2006/09/04/1157222051512.html

There are a bunch of other articles as well if you're interested, just type in his name and it'll pop out.

Don't know much about the man, only that he is a wildlife-protection activist and is well-known for his rescue and rehabilitation efforts for animals and mostly reptiles among Australians. The Australian National Zoo in Queensland actually belongs to Steve Irwin and his family. Coincidentally, my whole family visited the zoo in Dec 2004. It's a great place, very educational stuff about wildlife portrayed in shows and documentaries. Worth visiting on the basis that it is well-kept and very naturalistic. Plus the fact that we discovered two alligators named "Albert" and "Annie".

Here's a tribute to the great guy:

Steve Irwin, wildlife activist, Australia' No.1 animal lover

and an International icon in wildlife protection.

Yeah, I know... When my friend first told me that he died, my first reaction was "You're joking right?".

It's really sad and tragic :(
