It's a simple cake! Only someone as dense as me can fail at it -.-
The final burnt product. Well, I couldnt bring myself to take a picture with the cake at its full gory appearance, so I peeled off the crust.
I took a picture of the sides, it looks ok here. If you look closer there's the banana bits spread evenly here and there.
It didn't taste half bad. I could finish it eventually but I am NOT letting anyone else taste it. A one-woman misery is enough. If it isn't then a case of diahrrea should do it.
No humans to experiment on, so I did it on the cake instead. Fully stripped of its outer later. You should feel the insides.
But it's so damn fugly I decided to cover it up in the end.

Looks to me that you've got a good cake there. With two problems.
The first is the next time you should turn down the temperature a bit (and in that vein, leave it slightly longer). The reason you've got an outside that sucks and an inside that's good is because at too high temperatures it'll cook unevenly. Sort of like when you're deep frying - you should watch the temperature of the oil so that you don't end up with burnt outsides and raw insides.
Second, try covering the cake with foil while it's baking. It traps the heat and helps against cracking of the top. The reason it cracks is because heat has to escape somehow, and the top and in the middle tend to be the easiest ways. By covering it you... can't remember the reasoning - something to do with heat pressure and even cooking =)
Good luck with your next
