Of Assignments and Applications

Hey all..

Many apologies, I've been very busy lately. It's a jungle of assignments out there. Cavemen had it really hard back then. It's not easy to be chasing after lions and what not. So what say you to assignments? Well, technically you'd be holding a pen (computer?) rather than a spear I guess.

Very happy to wipe off the list of assignments!
As you can see ---------------------------------------------> GONE!
Hmm.... *stares at the stray*
Oh well, we'll get rid of that one in due time :)

So next up is revision. Hmm.. normally I would be saying, "WTH? There's still what, a month and a half up till exams not including SWOT VAC. Man man lai...."
* Man man lai is mandarin and translates to "slow slow come" literally. Actually just means "to chill.."
** Melb Uni actually calls its study break "swot vacation".. Translation : swot = study hard hard.

But now.. circumstances are different. I want to do Honours and then Postgraduate studies in Psychology. YEAP. I can read minds.

If you believe it, that is. :)

In any case, I should've begun revision two weeks ago. Well, ideallistically that would've been the case. :P

Here are the universities I will be applying to, not listed in any particular order:

Melbourne
University of Melbourne

La Trobe University

Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology

Deakin University

Monash University

Macquarie University

Adelaide
University of Adelaide

University of South Australia

Canberra
Australian National University

Sydney
University of New South Wales

Queensland
University of Queensland

Perth
University of Western Australia

I must admit I have a preference for some more than others though. Adelaide is probably my best shot in terms of grades (or so I was told by my tutor). And I see some really interesting research in Queensland, mostly to do with adolescent development (depression, parenting, child protection, eating disorders, sexuality, psychology of forgiveness) and other stuff like children's understanding of lying and truthfulness, attachment theory and communication, sexism and gender typicality for victim blame in the legal system, morality etc etc. Melbourne Uni of course, has great choices too. Like Dr. Sarah Wilson's music therapy (cognition, brain plasticity) and Mike Nicholls' obssession with laterality (brain asymmetries), not to mention Dr. Carol Hulbert's work on personality disorders (schizotypy in particular) and schizophrenia. It's so hard to choose when you're interested in everything!!

Ok. Enough of being siao siao (crazy). I'm off to dinner now!

Cheers!

P/S : It's our mid sem break now. For two weeks. There's that assignment above to do and revision of course. Not to mention my research for the Research Experience Program under Dr. Nick Haslam I joined at the beginning of the semester. HAH! Some holiday :P
